Dr Nicoletta Orphanou – Cardiologist


Dr Nicoletta Orphanou has graduated from Charles University Medical School, Prague (First Faculty of Medicine). After her graduation she worked in clinical research focusing on cardiomyopathies and sudden cardiac death at a reference centre in Italy (Fondazione Salvatore Maugeri, Pavia) with Professor Silvia Priori.

She specialized in cardiology at Nicosia General Hospital, Cyprus and Athens General Hospital – G. Gennimatas. During her training, she was also involved in clinical and research work at the Unit of Inherited Cardiovascular Diseases at Onassis Cardiac Surgery Centre.

After completing her training in cardiology, she subspecialized in transesophageal and transthoracic echocardiographic imaging of valvular disease and critically ill patients in the intensive care unit (Perioperative and Acute Care Echocardiography) at the Royal Brompton Hospital, London through a scholarship from the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI).

She has served as a representative of young Cypriot cardiologists at Heart Failure Specialists of Tomorrow programme of the Heart Failure Association of ESC. She is a member of Cyprus Medical Association, Cyprus Society of Cardiology, European Society of Cardiology and European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI).
